Old Deseret/This is the Place Heritage Park
Salt Lake City, UT 84108
Dating back to 1844, this historic site was part of a former Brigham Young settlement and is believed to be haunted by Young himself, until the site was moved. Then the hauntings were blamed on Young's 19th wide, Ann Eliza Webb, who has been seen hanging out near the kitchen window. Other reports here include the sounds of a children's party in the Jewkes-Draper House and an apparition of Mary Fielding Smith.

During the Haunted Village Celebration, I had gone through a tour of one of the buildings and paused when I saw a rocking chair moving by itself. No one had sat in it then darted off, and it didn't have a mechanical device making it move. I watched it for a while, and it didn't decrease in speed. When I got outside of the building, the train was waiting for our group to come aboard and one of the village workers asked me, "What was your favorite part so far?" I pointed to a window at one of the buildings and said, "You see the room with the light on? I liked the haunted rocking chair that actually rocks." She looked terrified and replied, "It's not supposed to!" I smiled and said, "I know."
